Spiritual Guru Pilot Baba Passes Away at 86

Kathmandu: Indian saint and spiritual guru Pilot Baba passed away on Tuesday at the age of 86 in a hospital in New Delhi, India. Known for his deep spiritual insights and teachings, Pilot Baba had a significant following across India and Nepal.

Vedic scholar Arjun Prasad Bastola shared that Pilot Baba began his spiritual journey under the guidance of Nepali saint Hari Giri at Trikhandi in Makawanpur district in 1974. Before embracing spirituality, he served as a pilot in the Indian Air Force, earning him the name "Pilot Baba."

He established an ashram at Ghyampe Danda in Suryabinayak municipality, Bhaktapur district, where he would frequently stay. Pilot Baba was known for his hospitality, especially towards Nepali pilgrims visiting the Kumbh Mela in India, providing them with accommodation and food.

Born into a royal family in Saharsa district of Bihar, India, Pilot Baba founded several ashrams under the name 'Juna Akhada' in places like Haridwar and Gangotri. He was honored with the title of 'Maha Mandaleshwor.'

To honor his legacy, three days of mourning will be observed in all 'Juna Akhada' ashrams starting today. His burial will take place in the sacred land of Uttarakhand, as reported by Indian media.
